Feltman told the press, at the end of a meeting with Moroccan Interior Minister Taib Cherqaoui, that the talks examined issues of shared interest, particularly bilateral counterterrorism cooperation and civil society's role in socio-economic development.
He added that his "fruitful" meetings with a number of government members and representatives of civil society provided an opportunity to reassert his country's firm commitment to endeavouring, in conjunction with other countries, to combat together terror threats.
During the meeting, Cherqaoui gave an overview of Morocco's efforts in fighting terrorism and drug and human trafficking.
The meeting also discussed the security situation in North Africa and the Sahel-Sahara regions as well as the latest developments in the Sahara issue.
In this regard, the minister renewed the Kingdom’s sincere commitment to finding a lasting political solution to this artificial conflict through the autonomy proposal, deemed serious and credible by the international community.
