Morocco is fully prepared to contribute to revitalizing the structures and institutions of the AMU in full respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the member states, in accordance with the Marrakech treaty, Latifa Akharbach told the 12th session of the Moroccan-Tunisian follow-up and coordination committee.
The AMU groups Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. It was created in 1989 but has stumbled ever since.
Akharabch also renewed Morocco's "firm and sincere" determination to reach a realistic, feasible solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara on the basis of the kingdom’s autonomy in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.
The official reiterated Rabat’s stance supporting the Palestinian people to recover its rights and the creation of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, as well as the efforts made to reach a just and equitable settlement of conflicts in the Middle East.
