Addressing the Twelfth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Minister said that Morocco continues to "attach particular importance to judicial cooperation in the fight against terrorism."
The Moroccan official highlighted Morocco's efforts to fight terrorism, saying that the Kingdom adheres to several UN anti-terrorism conventions and initiatives, backs regional and bilateral efforts in this regard, and promotes judicial cooperation.
Touching on criminality, the Minister explained that Morocco's crime prevention strategy is being carried out with the full respect of human rights.
In this respect, Naciri said that the Kingdom enacted a law to protect data processing systems against uses for criminal purposes.
He also shed light on Morocco's drug fighting strategy, which was commended by the UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) in its latest report.
In the same connection, Morocco enacted a law to fight money laundering in conformity with its international commitments, he said, urging, in this regard, all countries to cooperate on multilateral and bilateral levels.
The Twelfth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is held on April 12-19 under the theme "Comprehensive strategies for global challenges: crime prevention and criminal justice systems and their development in a changing world."
The Congress offers an opportunity to stimulate in-depth discussion and proposals for action along three principal avenues b establishing firmly the criminal justice system as a central pillar in the rule of law architecture, highlighting the pivotal role of the criminal justice system in development, and identifying emerging forms of crime that pose a threat to societies around the world and exploring ways to prevent and control them.
