Morocco has always favoured negotiated political solution to Sahara issue
Moroccan Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri Moroccan Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri said that Morocco has always favoured a negotiated political solution to the Sahara issue, in keeping with the UN Security Council resolutions which called for all the parties to continue negotiations towards a just, mutually acceptable political solution.

"Morocco has always favoured the negotiated political solution" to the Sahara issue, he told the weekly programme "Eye on Africa", broadcast on Friday by the South-African TV  channel "Africa Magic".

The Minister also affirmed that Morocco remains attached to its plan to grant wide-ranging autonomy to its southern provinces, which has been welcomed by the international community.

"Africa Magic" broadcast a special programme relating the history of the Sahara issue since the Green March (1975) up to Moroccan autonomy proposal put by Morocco on the table to solve the conflict.
