Speaking at a meeting with Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shashi Tharoor, Ouzzine expressed the Moroccan government's condolences to the Indian government on the terrorist attacks that shook the city of Pune leaving 10 dead.
The Moroccan official called for a close international cooperation to face this global threat, underlining the need to uproot the deep causes of terrorism notably, through the settlement of regional and international conflicts.
The scale of the terrorist threats, which takes several forms, shows that individual actions by states cannot substitute the need for a collective and sustainable commitment to counter this international danger which threatens all societies regardless of their religions and cultures.
In this regard, he reiterated Morocco’s engagement to fight underdevelopment and promote the values of dialogue between cultures, religions and civilisations.
Touching on the UN Security Council reform, Ouzzine said the composition of the Security Council should reflect the changes that took place in the world since the setting up of the United Nations.
Morocco deems it necessary to give African, Arab and Islamic countries a better representation in the UNSC, Ouzzine said, adding that the composition of the council should be adapted to today’s geopolitical realities.
Ouzzine is in India as part of a visit to the region that led him to Malaysia, Thailand and Laos.
