During the meeting, the two parties commended the excellent relations that bind Morocco and the PACE, calling for further reinforcing these ties on the basis of shared values of democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights.
Fassi Fihri told the press that he informed Mevlut Cavusoglu of the major reforms undertaken by Morocco in terms of democracy, human rights and social development.
The meeting was also an opportunity to inform the PACE president of the recent developments regarding the Sahara issue, he underlined, adding that he clarified the efforts made by Morocco to settle this issue, notably the initiatives of the advanced regionalization and the autonomy plan.
Mevlut Cavusoglu had described Morocco as a democratic and open country and example of economic and political stability, recalling that the Kingdom is the first country to request the status of “Partner for democracy” with the PACE.
