"Like the United Nations, we have commended as a breakthrough the Moroccan autonomy proposal presented to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon," French Foreign minister Bernard Kouchner told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly.
    Kouchner also regretted "the closure of Moroccan-Algerian borders", noting that these frontiers are "one of the most hermetic of the world."
