Speaking at the first session of the 14th Conference of Interior Ministers of Western Mediterranean Countries (CIMO), Benmoussa highlighted the importance of neutralizing the means of these activities' illegal financing, and addressing new forms crimes, mainly cyber crimes.
Benmoussa also underscored, at the session held on terrorism and organized crime, the need for a security response based on the exchange of information and other structural actions notably at the socio-economic level and relating to extremism and radicalism.
Referring to the fight against drug trafficking, the Moroccan official recalled the concrete results of the Moroccan strategy in this field which encompasses the operational dimension and the comprehensive approach, mainly alternative development.
The 14th CIMO conference started Tuesday in Venice with the participation of member states of the 5+5 group (Morocco, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Malta, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria and Mauritania). The European Commission is also taking part in the event as an observer.
