Morocco strongly welcomes invitation to join GCC
Morocco has welcomed with a great interest the invitation by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to join the six-nation regional grouping.

The Kingdom of Morocco "welcomes with a great interest the invitation by the GCC, on the occasion of its head of states summit held on Tuesday in Riyadh, to join the Organisation as well as the GCC's request to open consultations with Morocco on this  matter," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

On this occasion, Morocco stresses the important and special brotherly relations with the Arab Gulf states and expresses satisfaction with the deep consultations and the effective solidarity with these countries, added the statement.

At the same time, Morocco reiterates unwavering commitment to building the Arab Maghreb Union as a fundamental strategic choice, the same source went on to say.

Morocco also expresses its full readiness to engage in deep consultations with the GCC with a view to defining an optimal cooperation framework, said the statement.

The GCC is made up of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
