Morocco terms as baseless proselytism lash out, Govt spokesman

The Moroccan government has termed as "false & baseless" the backlash promoted by Morocco's expulsion of evangelists, saying that those smearing remarks were not made by the official Churches.

The hostile remarks were spread out by proselytes NGOs, the government spokesman, Khalid Naciri told on Sunday "Médi1Sat" TV channel, hailing the response made by representatives of Churches serving in Morocco in legality and freedom.
The Churches in Morocco have condemned the evangelists proselytizing attempts, said Naciri, expressing astonishment over the excessive reaction made by some countries, affirming that Morocco is an open, democratic and tolerant country.
Morocco, he said, dealt with this issue in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in democratic countries, added Naciri, saying that the authorities acted following complaints lodged by citizens and a probe which proved the evangelists involvement in proselytizing activities targeting children in precarious situation.
