France lauds the success of the 8th Morocco-EU Association Council, held Monday in Brussels, which enabled taking stock of the progress achieved by the north African country, the spokesperson said in a press conference.
Recalling the advanced status granted by Morocco under the UE French presidency in October 2008, the spokesperson said that a new instrument was developed to replace the Moroccan action plan starting July 2010.
In this regard, France fully supports Spain (which will assume the EU presidency in 2010) to finalize this instrument and organize the first EU-Morocco summit, the source said.
France encourages the EU to back Morocco in its actions to promote modernization and openness for the interest of the two shores of the Mediterranean, and in the spirit of the Union for the Mediterranean for which Morocco has always been a staunch supporter, the source concluded.
