"Morocco and the EU welcome the political and economic reforms undertaken in the Kingdom in the fields of macro-economic adjustment and monitoring, sectoral policies promotion and infrastructures liaison and interconnection," Fassi Fihri said in a press conference following the 8th session of the Morocco-EU Association Council.
"We examined the evolution of Moroccan EU relations since the latest council, held in October 2008 under the French Presidency," Fassi Fihri said, adding that the two parties have also tackled issues of common concern, notably the Sahara issue , the situation in the Maghreb, the Middle East and Africa in addition to the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
In this regard, Fassi Fihri said Morocco “believes, adheres, and hopes” that a collective commitment to the UfM “may soon come true because we need better regional governance for the Mediterranean.”
The Moroccan official highlighted that the kingdom and the EU share the same views concerning Africa, underlining the importance of the EU-Africa cooperation.
