Besides Morocco, many other countries from the Mediterranean area like Egypt and Algeria, as well as officials from the European Union (EU) are participating in these days organized by the European People's Party (EPP), the largest and most influential group inside the European Parliament with 265 MPs.
During the opening ceremony of the event, which runs till Friday, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Marrakech terrorist attack's victims.
Speaking at the event, presidents of the European parliament and EPP said that the meeting’s central topic is crucial in the light of the developments taking place in some South Mediterranean countries.
In this regard, the participants stressed the need to boost the Euro-Mediterranean partnership to face up to the region’s challenges and promote closer and diversified cooperation.
At the meeting, El Fassi highlighted the reforms initiated by Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI as well as the strategies and projects undertaken by the Kingdom to improve governance of public policies and strengthen competitiveness.
