  Morocco's autonomy plan is 'viable', John MacCain says
Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi US Senator John MacCain said, on Friday in Rabat, that the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco to settle the Sahara issue is "viable".
 

     In a statement to the press, following a meeting with Morocco's Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, McCain pointed out that the Moroccan autonomy initiative is a viable plan to end the long-lasting dispute over the Sahara.

    McCain also applauded the Moroccan-American "strong and improving" relations, adding that the talks with El Fassi focused on cooperation and friendship binding the two countries in various fields.

    For his part, El Fassi highlighted the large-scale reforms undertaken by Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in different political, social and economic fields, a statement of the Prime Minister’s Office said.

    The meeting was attended by the United States’ Ambassador to Morocco Samuel Kaplan
