Morocco's openness, model for Arab World - France's FM
French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe hailed, Saturday in Paris, Morocco's "resolute" choice of openness as opposed to some Arab countries which have opted for the "brutal repression" or "equivocation".

At the Closing session of a seminar on issues in the current upheavals in the Arab world, Juppe said that in some countries "carried out by this tremendous momentum toward freedom, the authorities have taken the lead by resolutely engaging in a process of openness to meet the legitimate claims of their peoples."

"I believe in Morocco where the Sovereign has made a bold speech that opens the way for major institutional reforms,” he said before an audience of experts, journalists and human rights activists from several Arab countries, notably Tunisia and Egypt.

Other countries, he pointed out, resorted “to savage repression is the case of Libya, where the international community is mobilized to protect the population.”
