New round of informal talks on Sahara Monday in Malta
The Moroccan delegation had also presented a clear vision towards a negotiated political solution on the basis of the autonomy proposal

A new round of informal talks on the Sahara is due on Monday in Malta under the aegis of the United Nations.
The new round, the sixth since August 2009, will be attended by representaives of Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and polisario.

These rounds on informal talks come in implementation of UN Security General resolutions 1813 (2008), 1871 (2009) and 1920 (2010), which call on the parties to enter into a more intensive and substantive phase of negotiations.

Morocco had, during the fifth round held last January in Manhasset (New York), put up several concrete, innovative ideas to speed up the negotiating pace, and reaffirmed willingness to find a solution to this regional dispute on the basis of its autonomy initiative for the Sahara under its sovereignty.

Moroccan Foreign Minister had, however, made clear that the ideas touch on the negotiating process not on the political solution.

The Moroccan delegation had also presented a clear vision towards a negotiated political solution on the basis of the autonomy proposal, which was praised by the international community as “serious and credible”
