The Moroccan diplomat told the press that the latter was transported to Nouakchott, in cooperation with Mauritanian authorities, for a confidential interview with the representative of UNHCR, on his chosen country of residence, in line with the rules and regulations of the UN body.
On this occasion, Hilale voiced the kingdom's gratitude to the UNHCR and other international organizations, in addition to the states that pressured Algeria and the "Polisario" into immediately and unconditionally releasing Ould Sidi Mouloud.
Freeing Ould Sidi Mouloud does not exempt Algeria, the host country to the population held against its will in the Tindouf camps, from its international responsibilities for arresting the human rights activist on its territory, and handing him over to the "polisario", he underscored, recalling that Algeria, along with the "polisario" are held responsible for the physical and psychological torture endured by Ould Sidi Mouloud while in detention.
In the same vein, he stressed that the kingdom largely commends UNHCR, which did not give in to the intimidation of Algeria and the "polisario", who attempted, in vain, to exploit the organization's humanitarian intervention to serve their political propaganda and spread false information.
