Speaking on this occasion, El Fassi underlined that the meeting is part of the implementation of the High Royal instructions laid down in the speech of the Throne, in which the Monarch urged the government to formally shape the Charter into a draft law which will serve as a reference for future public policies, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.
The Prime Minister recalled the working session, chaired by the Sovereign last October, during which His Majesty was briefed on the measures taken by different ministries and gave his instructions to the government to submit the draft framework law to the parliament.
El Fassi also shed light on the high Royal instructions relating to integrating the government’s action concerning the Charter so that it falls within the framework of a transversal approach that will lead to a real strategy for environment protection and sustainable development, added the statement.
The regional meetings, held in the beginning of this year, provided an opportunity for exchanging views and enriching the project of the National Charter for the Protection of the Environment through concrete proposals, El Fassi said.
He stressed that the underway draft law has to be a qualitative leap in terms of managing environmental issues in a way that preserves the natural assets of the Kingdom and its cultural and architectural aspects and improves the citizens’ quality of life.
