The summit is aimed to give a new impulse to the fight against hunger and malnutrition, which affect 1.2 billion people around the globe.
The meeting, to be held in the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), hopes to mobilise the required political will to increase investments in agriculture, and breathe a new life into the international efforts to fight hunger.
According to FAO figures, the needs in investments in developing countries part of public assistance is estimated at 44 billion dollars a year, in addition to the national budgets and private investments in the field.
