The inauguration will take place on Saturday at the senate's headquarters where Rousseff will take office as Brazil's first female president, succeeding Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.  

    Rousseff, from the ruling Workers Party, pledged to continue da Silva's policy aimed at eradicating poverty.
