In a statement to the press after the audience granted by HM King Mohammed VI to Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, El Fassi said that the two countries will start negotiations to discuss the practical details of the agreement.
He underlined that the FTA will be added to those signed by Morocco with the US, the European Union, Turkey and the countries of the Declaration of Agadir (Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan).
He also said that his talks with the Canadian official focused on several issues of common interest as well as on the situation of the Moroccan community in Canada.
El Fassi, who described as “successful” Harper’s visit to Morocco, added that the talks were also an opportunity for both parties to discuss the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and security in the Sahel region
