El Fassi, accompanied by Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhenouch, was received at the Leopold Sedar Senghor airport of Dakar by Senegalese counterpart Souleymane Ndene Ndiaye.
The Moroccan delegation, made up also of director general of the National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA) Mohamed Bedraoui, will take part in this event, themed "basic issues on regulation and agricultural world governance," along with other officials from southern countries.
The Dakar International Forum, held upon the initiative of President Abdoulaye Wade, is a framework to exchange ideas as a prelude to the G20 agricultural meeting slated in June under the presidency of France, the organizers said.
It will address three main topics namely: under which principles can we regulate agricultural markets to prevent food crises and avoid repeated agricultural crises? What instruments and international cooperation should be put to use to improve food security and fight poverty? On what grounds can we create a new global governance that will make agriculture, food and environmental preservation top priorities?
