conference held on Saturday in Genoa.  The pertinence of Morocco's autonomy initiative as a solution to the Sahara issue was at the heart of a conference, held on Saturday in Genoa.

The participants in the event, themed "The Moroccan Sahara: History and Development", underscored that the autonomy initiative is largely endorsed by all Moroccans as well as the international community.

In this respect, they paid tribute to HM King Mohammed VI for his wisdom.

They stressed that the autonomy initiative will put an end to the artificial Sahara dispute and will pave the way for the Maghreb integration.

During the conference, light was also shed on the different development projects launched in the southern provinces.

The participants also highlighted the sincere ties linking the southern provinces to the rest of Morocco. In this respect, they recalled that great Moroccan dynasties came from the Sahara, such as the Almoravid, the Almohad and the Alaouite dynasties.

For their parts, representatives of the Moroccan community in Italy, voiced their pride over the considerable achievements that Morocco has accomplished in the last decade, expressing their determination to contribute to their home country’s socio-economic growth and defend its territorial integrity.
