The project is elaborated by the Committee in the light of the royal speech dated March 9, and memorandums by political parties, trade unions, associations and youth NGOs, in addition to constructive efforts by the said Committee.
A statement by the Mechanism underlines that, during this meeting which brought together 33 political parties (parties in power, opposition and parties not represented in the parliament) and unions, the Mechanism's members approved the agenda and work methodology, commending the royal will to let parties from across the political spectrum, as well as trade unions contribute to elaborating a historic consensus on a democratic constitutional project.
They renewed their adherence and ongoing mobilization to ensure the success of this reforming process aimed at inaugurating a new constitutional era imbued with a democratic spirit, the principles and values of otherness, openess and the pooling of efforts, within the framework of collective work, a sense of responsibility, patriotism and positive citizenship, and sincere commitment to perfecting the rule of law.
They recommended that the viewpoints of the Mechanism's members be submitted to HM the King, by the chairman of the Political Follow-up Mechanism, to study the possibility of their inclusion in the constitution’s project on which a free and honest referendum will be held.
