"The political exploitation of the noble cause of human rights is all the more shameless when done by those who are responsible for the worst violations of human rights," the minister said at the opening of the 3rd meeting of the Reflection Group on the Strengthening of the Human rights Council.
The political exploitation of human rights is also discredited when it is monopolized by those who pretend to protect human rights to serve their political agendas as ordered by obscure sponsors, Morocco's top diplomat noted.
"However, any attempt to reform the United Nations' system in charge of the protection and the promotion would not be efficient and permanent without a firm will of the state to keep the issue of human rights from narrow ideological concepts, the games of temporary alliances at the UN and the irresponsible exploitation for political ends," Fassi Fihri went on to say.
He said the meeting of the Reflection group on the strengthening of the Human Rights Council, held in Rabat after that of Paris and Mexico, "shows the common will of our countries to give a real trans-regional dimension to this process and to make it more substantial and inclusive."
