Princess Lalla Malika, chairwoman of the Moroccan Red Crescent (CRM), chaired, on Wednesday in Rabat, the official ceremony marking the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, which coincides with the CRM national week.

On this occasion, the Princess commended the expansion of the CRM volunteers' network, which includes actually more than 40,000 people qualified in rescue operations, providing assistance and raising awareness across the national territory.

During the ceremony, national coordinator of the CRM program, Mohamed Assouali, presented a report on CRM's activities in 2009.

He said that first aid training centers have trained 9,700 new workers in 2009.

Subsequently, four partnership agreements were signed between Morocco's Red Crescent, public and private institutions, and local collectivities to promote professional first aid and CRM activities in Morocco's economic capital, Casablanca.
