This center, worth 3.4 million dirhams, is the result of a partnership between the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Cancer, the elected councils of Greater Casablanca, the Wilaya of Greater Casablanca and the Health Ministry.
This detection center, which is composed of 6 consulting rooms (3 for breast cancer and 3 others for cervical cancer), an operating room equipped with a colposcope and an observation room, is able to take medical care of up to 8,000 women annually.
The facility will concern a population of approximately 95,000 women aged between 30 and 50 years for cervical cancer, and a population of about 59,000 women aged between 45 and 70 years for breast cancer. It aims to improve diagnosis of these cancers to reduce morbidity and mortality due to them.
Later on, Princess Lalla Salma presided over the signing of the new agreement (2011-2013) between the ALSC and Greater Casablanca.
Worth 250 million dirhams, the agreement includes several projects, including the program of access to medicines for low income’ patients.
It also provides for buying a new accelerator, creating a tumor bank, setting up and equipping a reference center for the early detection of breast and cervical cancers in the city of Mohammedia.
The amount of the agreement is funded by the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Cancer (52%), the Health Ministry (22%), university hospital center ‘Ibn Rushd’ (14%), elected councils of Greater Casablanca ( 11%) and the Wilaya of Greater Casablanca (1%).
A volunteer program will be also organized for Greater Casablanca to create a network of volunteers to support cancer patients.
