On this occasion, Princess Lalla Salma was given detailed explanations on this ambitious project which will allow medical students to learn in one of the most technologically advanced facilities and provide healthcare of the highest global standards to the people of Qatar and the Gulf region.
This $ 7.9 billion medical center, to be operational in 2012, will be a primary teaching facility, providing students with the opportunity to develop their clinical skills and participate in biomedical research in an ultra-modern environment.
As a fundamental element of its design, the center, which will have accommodation for over 400 patients, is designed to provide specialty care for women & children in an innovative and ultra modern facility especially designed to promote healing.
Princess Lalla Salma also visited the headquarters of Qatar's diabetes Association which strives to help the people with diabetes and those who are at risk of developing this common chronic disease.
This association provides innovative patient care, diabetes education and related services with the hope of improving the overall quality of life for those who are affected.
