The presentation was made at a meeting co-chaired by Mexico's Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Ambassador Juan Manuel Gomez Robledo, as well as Ambassadors, permanent representatives in Geneva of France , Morocco and the Republic of Korea.
During the document's presentation, Hilale recalled that Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri stressed, in a speech at the opening of the Rabat's meeting, that the holding of the aforementioned meeting expresses Morocco's commitment to the principles of universal human rights and its strategic choice for democracy and the rule of law.
The Moroccan diplomat stressed that “Rabat’s meeting was held at a crucial stage, not only for our reflection group, but for the entire review process.”
It took place, he added, “at a time when the members of the reflection Group show common willingness to give a real trans-regional dimension to the review process and provide a substantial and inclusive scope to its collective contribution”.
The Moroccan ambassador said that “the Rabat meeting was the first meeting of the reflection Group which decided to make a substantial contribution to the review process on the basis of the discussions at Mexico City and Paris”.
Hilale added that “the outcome of Rabat’s meeting is a consolidated document reflecting concrete proposals on specific issues on which common convergences were identified, while other meetings on the review process are only compilations of opinions expressed by various parties”.
