During the meeting, the two parties discussed various aspects of relations between Morocco and Spain, a spokesperson of the Spanish Foreign Ministry told MAP-Madrid.
This is the first meeting between the Spanish Foreign Minister and Souilem since his appointment as Ambassador of Morocco in Madrid.
The two officials also tackled the situation at the regional level, the same source added.
Souilem held, the same day, talks with the Secretary in charge of international policy and cooperation of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE-ruling party), Elena Valenciano.
The talks “reviewed various current issues of common interest,” said a statement of the PSOE.
Valenciano stressed, on this occasion, the strategic and priority nature of her country’s relations with Morocco,” the source added.
She also reiterated the position of the PSOE supporting “progress and stability of Morocco and the entire region,” the statement concluded
