"This deeply reflects the solid brotherly relations between HM King Mohammed VI and HM King Juan Carlos," Cherqaoui told the Moroccan TV channel, Al Oula.
The talks dealt with issues relating to protecting the two countries against the threats of terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal immigration networks, the Moroccan official said, voicing satisfaction with the level of bilateral security cooperation which allowed the two countries to achieve concrete and positive results.
He said the two parties agreed at the end of the meeting to boost their joint commissions' action on security issues and to set up new cooperation mechanisms through reactivating joint police stations and reinforcing liaison officers' action.
Cherqaoui added that he will soon make a visit to Spain in order to pursue consultations with his Spanish counterpart on issues of common interests.
Earlier in the day, Cherqaoui held a meeting with Rubalcaba during which light was shed on the exceptional cooperation between the two countries’ Interior Ministries and the convincing results it has achieved.
The two officials underlined, in a joint statement, their commitment to continue coordination and consultations through permanent and regular contacts.
