Transport Minister inaugurates Fez-Oujda motorway worth over $1bn
Upon the instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, Equipment and Transport Minister Karim Ghellab inaugurated, on Monday, the 320 km Fez-Oujda motorway for an amount of 10.8 billion dirhams (1.3 billion dollars).

The Fez-Oujda motorway, whose building works were launched by the Sovereign on January 16, 2007, is part of the ambitious program of motorway infrastructure that includes 1,417 km.

This project falls within the framework of the royal initiative for the development of the eastern region and comprises 13 interchanges.

The construction of the new motorway spanned four years and brought the duration of the Rabat-Oujda trip from seven hours to four and a half.

The project was funded through concessionary loans by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the European Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
