"Aware of the dangers threatening security and stability in the region, the Security Council members unanimously urge the continuation of efforts by Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the process of negotiations," the Minister told the press on the sidelines of the International Nuclear Security Summit.
Fassi Fihri held a series of meetings with US, Chinese and Brazilian counterparts, in addition to Mexican undersecretary for Foreign affairs. He said these meetings were an opportunity to examine the latest developments of the Sahara issue in the light of the latest report of the UN Secretary General.
"Member countries of the Security Council stress that a lasting settlement to this artificial conflict should be found," Fassi Fihri said, adding that all the meetings were an opportunity to highlight Morocco's autonomy proposal, few days ahead of the adoption by the Security Council of a resolution on the Sahara issue.
