CNN highlights 'sweeping' constitutional reforms announced by HM the King
HM King Mohammed VI announced on June 17 "sweeping" constitutional reforms that will boost the power of the Prime Minister, said the US news channel CNN.

"The revamped draft constitution will make officials more accountable, the parliament in Rabat more dynamic and will give the government greater powers,” wrote CNN on its website.

The appointment of the Prime Minister by the electorate's following a popular vote is one of the major amendments of the constitutional reform draft, which will be put to a referendum on July 1, added CNN.

It also recalled that the Advisory Committee for the Revision of the Constitution has consulted with political parties, trade unions and civil society groups on constitutional changes.
