Abdellatif Maazouz, who addressed the opening session of the Moroccan-Cameroonian Business Forum, noted that this figure represents more than 56% of Morocco's foreign private-sector investments.
He added that these investments are particularly characterized by a sectoral diversification, especially high value-added sectors such as building and civil engineering works, ICT and electricity along with the banking and financial sector, transport, rural electrification and vocational training.
The minister stressed that Morocco gives keen attention to South-South cooperation within the framework of a win-win partnership.
Maazouz, who leads a mission composed of more than 100 operators as part of Export Caravan, commended Cameroon’s efforts towards a fruitful regional economic integration and a solidarity-based development.
On bilateral relations, the minister insisted that it is high time the two countries made a qualitative stride in their ties, as, he argued, bilateral trade falls short of potentials with a mere $23 million in 2009.
Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, Cameroonian Trade Minister, said Morocco has a very dynamic SME sector and has devised a programme to reinforce its industrial capacities and upgrade firms, which is worth duplicating in Cameroon.
