The reform of the Moroccan audiovisual landscape, which has for a long time been one of the government priorities, has been finally realised with the unanimous adoption by the parliament of the law on the audio-visual communication on November25, 2004.

This law is an important ground in the process aiming at setting up the legal framework of the sector liberalization which had started in August 2002 with the promulgation of the decree related to the creation of the High Authority of the Audiovisual Communication (HACA) and in September 2002 with the law which put an end to the state’s monopole in terms of broadcasting.
