HM King Mohammed VI chairs in Tangier reception on Throne Day
Tangier - HM King Mohammed VI, flanked by Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired, on Friday at the Tangier Marshane Palace, a reception on the 11th anniversary of the sovereign's accession to the throne.
The sovereign was greeted by dean of African diplomatic corps to Morocco, Angola's ambassador Luis José de Almeida, dean of Arab diplomatic corps, ambassador of State of Qatar Saqr Moubarak Al Mansouri, dean of European diplomatic corps, Vatican City's ambassador Msg Antonio Sozzo, vice-dean of Asian diplomatic corps, Malaysia's ambassador Othman Ben Samin, and vice-dean of American diplomatic corps, Canada's ambassador Christopher Wilkie.
The monarch was also greeted mainly by Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, Speaker of Lower House Abdelouahed Radi, Speaker of Upper House Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) Khalihenna Ould Errachid and Chairman of the Advisory Council on Human Rights Ahmed Herzenni.
On this occasion, chairman of Moroccan NGO "Cercle des jeunes démocrates marocains" handed HM the King a document showing that the Moroccan flag was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest in the world.
The monarch awarded the Alaouite Wissam with the rank of Grand Officer to Raymond Safia, former chief inspector of the French national police, and the Alaouite Wissam with the rank of Officer to Jean-Paul Herteman, CEO of Safran aviation group, and Serge Pena, French painter. He also granted the Alaouite Wissam with the rank of Knight to Spanish Sisters Firmina Suarez Garcia and Raffaella Del Campo Massuela, nurses and social workers at the Al Hoceima hospital center, and Portuguese Sister Dos Reis Cayo Maria, nurse and social worker at the Lalla Meryem center for child protection.
HM the King awarded royal wissams to several Moroccan figures.
The monarch received King Tossoh Gbaguidi XIII of Savalou and leader of Mahis in Benin.
HM the King awards Mohammed VI prizes for Koranic schools, Ahl Al Quran and Ahl Al Hadith
Tangier - HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, awarded on Friday at the Mohammed V mosque in Tangier, the 2010 Mohammed VI prizes for Koranic schools, Ahl Al Quran and Ahl Al Hadith.
The sovereign awarded the Mohammed VI prize for Koranic schools to Ali El Boucheouari (methodology of learning) and El Mokhtar Chemsi (performance prize).
This prize testifies to the crucial role of Koranic schools in teaching Islam's noble values and tenets to the young generations.
The sovereign granted the Mohammed VI prizes for Ahl Al Quran and Ahl Al Hadith to Mohamed Bencherif Shabi and Mohamed Lamrebah respectively, both teachers of Islamic sciences.
The two prizes show HM the King's will to highlight the uniqueness of the Holy Koran and preserve the authenticity of Prophet Mohamed's Hadith.
