Congo Interested in Morocco's Agricultural Experience (Minister)

Congo is interested in Morocco’s experience in the field of Agriculture, said, Wednesday in Meknes, State minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Republic of Congo, Henri Djombo.

"We are interested in the Moroccan experience because we are going to start our next national development plan where agriculture occupies a predominant position," Djombo told the press at the end of his talks with minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Waters and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch, on the sidelines of the 13th Morocco's International Agriculture Fair (SIAM 2018).

The minister also expressed his country's interest in SIAM, considering it a "very great achievement" in the agricultural field.

"This fair interests us in several ways. It shows the importance of value chains, as well as the remarkable results achieved by research," he stressed.

In this regard, Djombo stressed the importance of promoting veterinary and agronomic research and also training, since the modernization of agriculture is now required through the use of new technologies, mechanization, land irrigation and many other means.

He noted that his meeting with Akhannouch focused on cooperation between Morocco and the Republic of Congo in the field of agriculture, fisheries and livestock.

Akhannouch also held talks with new resident representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Morocco, Florence Rolle.

In a statement to the press, Rolle said she had assured Akhannouch of FAO's support for Morocco and discussed with him the main orientations of Morocco-FAO cooperation.
