2nd Day of Second Round Table Meeting at Invitation of UNSG's Personal Envoy for Moroccan Sahara Kicks Off

The second day of a second round table meeting held at the invitation of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Moroccan Sahara, Horst Köhler, opened Friday morning at Château Le Rosey in Bursins near Geneva, with the participation of a Moroccan delegation, alongside Algeria, the "polisario" and Mauritania.

The Moroccan delegation led by Nasser Bourita, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes Omar Hilale, Morocco's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, president of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Yenja El Khattat, president of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and Fatima El Adli, community actor and member of Smara's municipal council.

This 2nd round table meeting is held in accordance with the latest Security Council resolution (2440), adopted on 31 October 2018, which underlines that the purpose of the political process is to "achieve a realistic, practicable and enduring political solution based on compromise".

The meeting is expected to wrap up this Friday evening.
