520k Visitors Attend Morocco's 24th International Book Fair

The 24th edition of the International Book Fair (SIEL), which ended Sunday, was attended by 520,000 visitors, i.e. an increase of about 50.72% compared to the previous year, said a statement by the ministry of Culture and Communication.

This edition opted for Egypt as guest of honor, which was represented by an official delegation, led by the Egyptian Culture minister and composed of several writers, creators and representatives of academic and research institutions.

SIEL also brought together over 700 direct and indirect exhibitors representing 45 countries, who showcased more than 125,000 books, of which 52% were published in the last three years, the statement said.

The number of activities organized as part of the cultural program of this edition amounted to 791, notably seminars, meetings and signing ceremonies, in addition to a program for children, noted the ministry, adding that 1,566 participants representing Morocco as well as Arab and foreign countries took part in this program.

Held under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this edition, which was kicked off by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, was organized by the ministry of Culture and Communication, in collaboration with the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports.
