6.85 bn MAD Earmarked to Fight Disparities in Rural World in 2018, Official
An amount of 6.85 billion dirhams will be earmarked for the program on fighting social and territorial disparities in the rural world in 2018, said agriculture minister Aziz Akhannouch.
3.39 billion dirhams of the budget will be financed by the fund of rural and mountainous zones development with the aim of ensuring opening up landlocked areas (74%), development of education infrastructure (11%) and health infrastructure (4%), and linkage to networks of drinking water (8%) and electricity (3%), said Akhannouch in a presentation on his ministry's draft budget for the year 2018, before the committee on productive sectors at the house of representatives.
As for the development program for oases, Argan trees, mountains and other rural world-linked activities, the minister said that an amount of 92 million dirhams will be allocated to carry out new partnership projects with new local stakeholders.
He also promised the launch and the continuation of implementing projects as part of international cooperation, worth 116 million MAD, divided between the climate green fund (99 mln MAD) and the fund of adaptation to climate change (17 mln MAD).
A budget of 45 mln MAD will be allotted to carrying out the rural development project for the Atlas mountains through technical studies and awareness raising initiatives for the beneficiaries, he said.
The budget of the agriculture department's budget rose by 8% compared to 2017 due to the increase of the management budget (+1%) and that of investment (10%), he added.
