Governor of Bank Al Maghrib (Morocco’s central bank), Abdellatif Jouahri, was awarded Saturday in Bali as one of the world's best central bank governors.

At a ceremony held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (WBG-IMF) held on Oct. 8-14 in the Indonesian island of Bali, Jouahri was awarded a trophy for receiving an “A” grade in Global Finance’s annual Central Banker Report Cards 2018.

Jouahri, who for the second year in a row tops the list along with five other central bank governors, said he was honored by the award, which he noted is a recognition of the achievements made by Bank Al Maghrib in accordance with international norms and standards.

Later in the evening, Jouahri won Global Markets’ award of the best Central Bank governor in 2018 in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

"These two awards represent the culmination of the work done by Morocco’s central bank,” Jouahri told MAP, noting that Bank Al Maghrib will continue to work to promote the financial and economic situation in the Kingdom.

For his part, Toby Fides, editor-in-chief of the financial newspaper Global Markets, highlighted Jouahri's distinguished career, noting that the governor of the Moroccan central bank has been rigorous in terms of the monetary policy implemented in the Kingdom.

"Thanks to appropriate and adapted monetary policies, Mr Jouahri has managed to maintain price stability in the Kingdom," Fides told MAP on the sidelines of the awards ceremony.

Jouahri attended the annual meetings of the IMF-World Bank Group held on Oct. 8-14 in Bali, Indonesia.
