AfDB Approves 2017-2021 Country Strategy Paper for Morocco
The Board of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved, on Wednesday in Abidjan, the 2017-2021 country strategy paper for Morocco.
This document outlines the program of collaboration between the AfDB and Morocco for the next five years, the AfDB said in a note published on its official portal, underlining that this strategy was designed to accompany the Kingdom in its efforts to create the conditions for the speeding up the structural transformation of its economy and the creation of jobs.
The Bank will pay particular attention to the industrialization of the Moroccan economy, by financing operations to remove the constraints faced by SMEs in development and export sectors, the AfDB noted.
It added that the pan-African Bank will also focus on the issue of employment for the most vulnerable population, especially young people and women in rural areas.
Green growth is at the heart of this strategy of the AfDB specific to Morocco, which will allow the kingdom to keep up the momentum generated by the organization of the COP22 in Marrakech, said the same source.
To facilitate green industrialization, "green" infrastructure will be developed, renewable energies and sustainable transport will be promoted, the AfDB noted.
The Bank will also support Morocco in the development of its excellent relations with the rest of Africa, mainly through accelerating trade and investment.
