Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas lauded, Wednesday at the OIC extraordinary summit, the contributions of HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds committee, and his efforts to defend Al Quds Asharif and preserve its legal and political status as a city of peace that is open to the believers of the three monotheist religions and symbol of coexistence and tolerance.
Also, the foreign ministers council hailed action by HM the King in his capacity as chairman of Al Quds committee and the role of the committee through its tangible support on the field thanks to the implementation by the Bait Mal Al Quds agency in the holy city of many community projects in the socio-economic, education, health and housing fields to assist Al Quds inhabitants in resisting any attempt to alter or distort religious, cultural, and civilizational monuments, Islamic or Christian, and judaize the city.
In its final statement, the summit recommended supporting the Bait Mal Al Quds agency, the executive arm of the Al Quds committee, under the OIC.
It also considered the American decision null and void and contradictory to international legitimacy, commending international rejection of the said decision and pressuring the UNSC to shoulder its responsibilities and reaffirm the legal status of the city of Al Quds.
State secretary for foreign affairs Mounia Boucetta led the Moroccan delegation to this event, which was an occasion to reiterate the Kingdom's rejection of the American decision and warn against its negative impact on peace and stability in the region, as well as express its solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in defending their just cause and legitimate rights.
