Canadian National Assembly Speaker Praises Morocco’s Stability, Counter Terrorism Efforts

Speaker of the Canadian National Assembly Jacques Chagnon praised, on Tuesday in Rabat, Morocco for its stability and the efforts it has launched to counter terrorism and stem extremism in North Africa.

Speaking at a meeting with Upper House Speaker Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, Chagnon also applauded the Kingdom for its key regional role in maintaining stability and world peace, the Upper House said in a statement.

For his part, Biadillah briefed his guest on the reforms undertaken in Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI which enabled Morocco to forge ahead on the path of strengthening democracy.

The meeting was an opportunity to raise the excellent relations between Morocco and Canada and the province of Quebec in particular.

The two Speakers also discussed the means to further strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between Morocco’s and Canada’s respective legislative institutions.
