Chinese Assistant FM: Morocco, China Have Seen 'Excellent Development' of Bilateral Relations following HM the King’s Visit to China
Relations between Morocco and China have witnessed "excellent development" following the visit paid by HM King Mohammed VI to China in 2016, said Tuesday in Rabat Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister, Chen Xiaodong.
The bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries has injected strong momentum into bilateral relations, he told reporters following talks with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita.
In this regard, Xiaodong expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between Beijing and Rabat, adding that the two sides have agreed to increase efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields through the various mechanisms and forums put in place, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Africa and the China-Arab Cooperation Forums.
Morocco, which is a leading country in the MENA region, defends multilateralism and free trade, he pointed out, adding that Beijing and Rabat "share the same stance on this issue and are against trade protectionism."
Talks with Bourita focused on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest, he said.
