CNDH Represents GANHRI in Debates of UNHRC's 10th Anniversary

The National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) represented, on Monday in Geneva, the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) in the high-level debates marking the 10th anniversary of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

The Alliance brings together 72 national institutions, including the CNDH, with an "A" status for fulfilling conditions of independence and pluralism in conformity with the Paris Principles adopted in 1991.

Cooperation between the CNDH and National Human Rights Institutions witnessed a quantum leap regarding the monitoring of human rights and sharing best practices in the field, said secretary general of CNDH Mohamed Sebbar.

On behalf of GANHRI, Sebbar called for supporting National Human Rights Institutions through resources and prerogatives helping them to carry out their mission in the best conditions.

The CNDH was given the A status four times by the GANHRI, which is the only non-UN body whose internal accreditation system, based on compliance with the Paris Principles, grants speaking rights and seating at human rights treaty bodies and other UN organs.
