Counterterrorism: Morocco's Collaboration is 'Invaluable’
Morocco's collaboration with Spain in the fight against terrorism is "invaluable," said Spanish Interior minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido.
In an interview published by Spanish paper +La Razon+, Zoido also noted that Morocco is "a friendly country, a partner and an ally -of Spain- in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal immigration."
He pointed out that the close collaboration between Spain and Morocco on counterterrorism led to 12 joint operations, which resulted in the arrest of 175 jihadists.
Zoido added that the terrorist threat "has many facets and is constantly evolving", making it crucial to exhaust every effort to guard against this threat.
"It is only through unity and international cooperation that we can put an end to terrorism that seeks to destroy our way of life," he said, adding that the "alarming rapidity" of the radicalization of some people necessitates working with the European Union for the prevention and the fight against terrorism.
