Excellent Ties Between Peru and Morocco Make Two Countries A Link Between Latin America and Africa, Peruvian FM

The excellent relations between Peru and Morocco make the two countries a link between Latin America and Africa, said Peruvian Foreign affairs Minister Néstor Popolizio, on Tuesday, during a ceremony to award the Insignia of the Grand Cross of the Sun of Peru Order to Morocco's Ambassador to Peru Youssef Balla.

The Peruvian official said that his country's wish to strengthen its presence in the African continent has always been supported by the Kingdom, adding that "we are sure to count on the support of Morocco within the African Union where we have an observer status".

He welcomed the admission of Morocco as the first African observer member of the Pacific Alliance, deeming that this initiative will enhance economic ties and help develop trade.

The minister also noted that the political consultations between Peru and Morocco, held in 2018 in Lima, have laid down an important road map to reinforce friendly relations and promote cooperation between the two countries in different areas.

Popolizio also stressed that the two countries are working to consolidate their excellent bilateral relations, noting that despite the geographical distance, there are many cultural links between Peru and Morocco.

In this regard, he underlined the presence of the Arab-Moroccan culture in Peru through language, traditions, culture and architecture, as well as the influence of Moroccan gastronomy, emphasizing the importance of language in building bridges between cultures.
