FM Meets in Rabat with Peer from Congo-Brazzaville

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita met, Friday in Rabat, with his counterpart from Congo-Brazzaville Jean Claude Gakosso.

Speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, Bourita said that Morocco and Congo-Brazzaville have long-standing relations based on a sincere friendship, a sound solidarity and a shared ambition to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The two countries have signed several agreements four months ago and have identified other fields of bilateral cooperation, added the minister, assuring that the ambition of the two heads of state is to reinforce this relation.

For his part, Gakosso said that Morocco was present at the signing ceremony, in March 2017 in Oyo (north of Brazzaville), of the memorandum that established the Congo Basin Blue Fund, recalling that this initiative was launched at the COP22 in Marrakech.

The minister also noted that Brazzaville will host, on April 25, the first summit of heads of state and government on this Fund and ways to preserve this unique ecosystem.
